PURPOSE/GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This position reports to the Associate Director of Admission and encompasses significant responsibilities in admission recruitment, outreach, and application review. The role is primarily located on campus but may involve some remote work.

The specific program coordination responsibilities will be determined based on the office's needs and the successful candidate's experience. Candidates are encouraged to highlight their expertise in areas such as social/digital media, event planning, and program management in their cover letter.

The anticipated start date for this position is on or after July 2024.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This information is intended to be a descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position.The list of essential functions provided below is not exhaustive and may not cover all the duties carried out by an individual in this role. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.

  • Represent Scripps College both on and off-campus to prospective students, their families, secondary school counselors, and other relevant individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process.
  • Serve in the rotation as the admission officer (AO) of the day to present information sessions, post-tour chats, and answer questions of prospective students and their families visiting campus for tours.
  • Develop and execute recruitment initiatives for designated high schools and territories, college access organizations, and partnership programs involving a travel period of up to 9 weeks throughout the year.
  • Counsel prospective applicants regarding the admission process and opportunities available at Scripps College through virtual and in-person information sessions, interviews, webinars, college fairs, high school visits, phone calls, and emails.
  • Review on average 600 applications submitted by applicants for admission decisions and participate in admission committees.
  • Contribute to and support the success of diverse programs aimed at recruiting prospective students through effective collaboration with various departments and offices.
  • Participate in a range of admission events including large on-campus events.
  • Enhance job knowledge through active involvement in educational opportunities, comprehensive reading of professional publications, nurturing personal networks, and active engagement in professional organizations.
  • Demonstrate active support for the College's Principles of Community and Principles of Diversity while performing job duties.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Applicants must possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to effectively carry out the position's essential functions. Alternatively, they must be able to articulate or demonstrate how they will perform these essential functions, either with or without reasonable accommodations, utilizing other relevant skills and abilities.

  • Ability to independently perform complex tasks and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Exceptional public speaking and written communication skills including editorial and proofreading skills, with a strong command of the English language (grammar and spelling).
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency/expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, email, and internet research; experience with databases/CRMs preferred.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor's degree is required or any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the job.

0-2 years of relevant work experience are required, with preference given to candidates who have previous experience in higher education.

LICENSES / CERTIFICATES:

Must have the ability to safely drive as needed; the candidate's DMV record must meet the College automobile liability insurance company's requirements.

HOURS & CLASSIFICATION AND STATUS:

This is a regular, full-time, 12-month, exempt, benefits-eligible position.

The regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Hours may vary and include nights and weekends based on the needs of the College or Department.

Annualized salary: $66,560.00-$68,640.00. The salary rate of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, andtraining.

None.
