Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate's qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage.
Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary
The Marketing and Communications Manager (Manager) leads data-driven marketing and communications strategies and their implementation for the Office of Career and Professional Development (CPD). This position reports to the Director of Career and Professional Development (Director) and is a thought partner and innovator across the functional areas of the CPD, utilizing data to ensure the CPD is maximizing its service delivery and contributing to successful post-graduation outcomes for students. The Manager will innovate and develop effective, creative marketing and communications plans that amplify the programs, initiatives, and milestones of the CPD across the university and with external stakeholders leading to increased engagement. This position will supervise a team of marketing student workers and collaborate with members of the CPD and key campus partners, including school/college-based career liaisons and marketing colleagues, Strategic Marketing and Communications (SMC), Engagement and Volunteerism, Student Affairs, and the Communications Council.
Responsibilities
Strategic Marketing and Communications
  • Employ strategic elements of marketing with creative communication to effectively reach and engage with CPD's internal and external stakeholders, including prospective and current students and their families, employers, alumni, the campus community and other stakeholders.
  • Create, oversee, and participate in implementing all marketing and communications research, comprehensive plans, and campaigns to further the work of the CPD to advance its strategic goals, as well as Chapman University's mission.
  • Leverage various media platforms and communication mediums to lead the strategic dissemination of the CPD's initiatives, services, resources, first-destination survey (FDS) data, and milestones with our internal and external stakeholders.
  • Equip and empower campus partners with relevant and timely CPD marketing and communications resources to maximize cross promotion and advance the strategic goals of the CPD, including creating marketing toolkits and new opportunities for collaboration.
  • Increase the CPD's impact on students, alumni, and employers by utilizing data (such as usage trends, open and click rates, etc.) and KPIs across CPD's functional areas to inform the direction of marketing and communications strategies. Continuously innovate, assess effectiveness, and make improvements to future events, services, and resources.
  • Stay abreast of latest industry trends, including using AI and being active in relevant professional organizations.

Planning and Execution
  • Generate annual marketing plans and calendars for different audiences and streamline CPD's marketing and communications across the various functional areas.
  • Using MS Planner, Projects, and other project management resources, ensure the timely planning, progress, and execution of all deliverables, including those from student workers.
  • Draft and coordinate all CPD mass emails, newsletters, and communications to various audiences, as well as create content for campus partners' newsletters, emails, etc. to promote the work of the CPD.
  • Maximize the use of Handshake and Campaign Monitor to create and send engaging email communications.
  • Develop marketing collateral and assets, including flyers, PowerPoint materials, signage, and other digital and printed materials to support the needs of the CPD.
  • Create marketing campaigns around our events and career technologies to increase student participation and engagement.
  • Oversee all CPD social media and digital marketing activities, including LinkedIn, @chapmanucareer Facebook and Instagram pages, blogs.chapman.edu, and events.chapman.edu.
  • Provide ongoing upkeep of the chapman.edu/career website; and oversee the annual comprehensive website review and updates.
  • Work with SMC and the Data and Systems Analyst to update and upkeep the FDS/post-graduation outcomes survey webpage.

Collaboration with CPD Functional Areas
  • Under the direction of the Associate Vice President of CPD (AVP) and collaboration with the Data and Systems Analyst, maximize the visual effectiveness of the Power BI FDS and KPI dashboards while crafting compelling data storytelling of the CPD's milestones.
  • Collaborate with the Employer Engagement team to develop written and visual marketing and communications content for external stakeholders, including employers, alumni, and families to increase engagement at career fairs, networking nights, on-campus interviews, tablings, and other recruiting programs and initiatives.
  • Work with the Employer Engagement team and Data and Systems Analyst to maximize the use of and oversee future communications in an institutional-wide Employer Relationship Management (ERM) module.
  • Collaborate with the Career Education team to develop written and visual marketing and communications content for internal and external stakeholders, including students, alumni, families, faculty, and staff to maximize engagement through appointments and drop-ins and at workshops/presentations, career fairs, networking nights, on-campus interviews, tablings, and other recruiting programs and initiatives.
  • Work with the Career Education team to communicate with students and the Chapman community on the career competencies and global workforce skills sought after by employers; coordinate the upkeep of all CPD handouts, including an annual comprehensive review and updates.

Management
  • Supervise and provide the marketing student workers the oversight, training, and guidance to execute marketing campaigns, including the weekly CPD newsletter, social media accounts, blog posts, and written and visual marketing and communications content in various media platforms.
  • Use MS Planner and Projects to ensure that student workers stay on task and track the progress of each project.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience, including experience independently managing multiple ongoing marketing projects and initiatives at various phases of completion
  • Solid understanding of marketing and communications processes from creative conceptualization to implementation
  • Excellent writing skills to compose correspondence, newsletters, marketing materials, etc.
  • Excellent oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate and build relationships with diverse constituent groups
  • Experience or working knowledge in developing and executing strategic marketing plans to support measurable organizational goals and benchmarks
  • Experience in creating effective and engaging content for a variety of social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook
  • Experience with EMS email marketing services and campaign building tools (e.g., Campaign Monitor, Salesforce, etc.)
  • Experience with CMS (e.g., Cascade, WordPress, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Canva
  • Demonstrated knowledge of traditional, digital, and emerging media, including how to leverage different platforms to support institutional goals and priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to perform data analysis and research, interpret process or data needs, and make appropriate recommendations for marketing and communications decisions
  • Possess a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and time management skills, as well a proactive approach to manage multiple, competing priorities/projects with time-sensitive deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of Excel
  • Strong technology acumen with demonstrated fluency in standard business software
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information and display sound judgment and ethics
