Senior Line Worker Fernandina Beach, FL

Senior Line Worker is responsible for the safe and efficient construction, maintenance and repair of overhead and underground distribution and transmission electrical systems. The work includes using tools and mechanical equipment to work on energized and de-energized electrical lines, cables, transformers and various other equipment used in the distribution and transmission of electricity.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate equipment such as bucket and derrick trucks and construction tools in a safe and efficient manner
  • Accurately installing and troubleshooting transformer banks, regulators, capacitors, insulators and other system equipment for overhead and underground distribution facilities.
  • Capable of safely performing installation and repair of both energized and de-energized distribution facilities
  • Capable of safely preforming installation and repair of de-energized transmission facilities
  • Safely installing poles, wire/cable, conduit and other miscellaneous devices for overhead and underground distribution facilities.
  • Supervision and training for Apprentice Line Workers
  • Follow and promote Safety Procedures, participate in safety training and ensure job briefings are conducted prior to each job
  • Oversee and safely set up and remove MOT works zones as necessary
  • Accurate completion of work-related forms such as time sheets, retirement sheets, meter orders, stock slips, etc. on paper and using laptop computers
  • Continue to learn new operation, maintenance, and construction techniques for electrical distribution systems.
  • Be available to work overtime during scheduled standby and as needed call outs
  • Ability to climb poles to perform electric installations and report work from the pole
  • Ability to use hand tools to dig in order to install certain poles, repair/install underground electrical facilities
  • Miscellaneous assignments as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

All employees covered by this agreement in the Operations Section shall reside at his or her permanent residence which is to be located no farther than thirty (30) road miles from 780 Amelia Island Parkway, Fernandina Beach, Florida 32034 and be able to report no later than 45 minutes after the call is received. New or existing employees moving into these sections will have nine (9) months to relocate into this required area.

  • 5-10 years of relevant experience
  • High School Diploma
  • Have documentation of a completed certified Apprentice Line Worker curriculum and completed all necessary field training hours.
  • Must have the physical capabilities to perform all work necessary
  • Be capable of interacting courteously and professionally with customers and contractors
  • Maintain a valid Class A commercial driver's license and a responsible driving record
  • Display safe driving practices at all times
