What You'll Do:

  1. Maintains strict confidentiality of payroll records.
  2. Processes hourly, non-exempt and off cycle payrolls in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Collects, reviews, and inputs all payroll information (time files, employee data, pay adjustments, deductions, etc) into the Payroll database.
  • Coordinates processing schedules with Payroll team members.
  • Prepares and maintains controls on input.
  • Corrects and verifies edits.
  • Verifies output records.
  • Prepares and distributes payroll checks and direct deposit slips.
  • Coordinates direct deposit transfer and positive pay file to the appropriate banking facility.
  • Maintains employee records related to payroll.
  • Maintains all records related to payroll input and balancing reports for each payroll processed.

  1. Prepares and/or audits regularly scheduled reports for various governmental and outside agencies regarding federal, state, and local taxes; third party payments, etc.
  2. Prepares and/or audits various reports as needed by management. Stays abreast of and complies with current payroll practices, local state and federal laws and regulations regarding FLSA, Department of Labor, tax withholding, tax levies, child support orders, garnishments, etc.
  3. Researches issues and resolves problems for employees, management, and business segment Human Resources and Accounting personnel.
  4. Participates in process improvement research projects and implements approved process changes.
  5. Participates in special projects as assigned by management.
  6. Employs effective interpersonal and communications skills in dealings with co-workers and other employees. This includes taking a team approach to working with the other members of Payroll Shared Services, business segment Human Resources and Accounting departments and having a service attitude toward the employees for which we process payrolls.

Qualifications

Skills You'll Need:

Education. High school diploma required. A degree or coursework towards a degree in Accounting or a related field is a plus.

Experience. Knowledge of payroll tax laws, data processing and basic accounting is required.

Computer Skills. Skills in data entry, MS Excel, MS Word, and calculators are required. Ability to perform a volume of numerical detail work with speed and accuracy. Ability to use PeopleSoft Query tool to extract and organize data.

Time Management. Ability to organize and manage time.

Project Management Skills. Must be able to work independently and multi-task in a fast paced environment. Must have the ability to plan, organize and complete projects.

Interpersonal Skills. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, understand technical and legal terminology, and communicate effectively with employees at all levels. Ability to prepare financial and other records in a systematic, neat, and legible manner. Ability to work effectively both in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.

Hourly Range: the hourly range for this role is between $24.00 per hour. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate's compensation, we consider a number of factors, including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
