Purpose/Summary:

Responsible for recruitment support, processing, orientation, and monitoring of Class A drivers with an understanding of Federal (FMCSA), State (CHP DOT), and local regulations. Ensures compliance with all regulations; maintains effective means of communication; conducts training as needed and assists with BIT and 90-day inspections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain working knowledge of Federal, State and local government regulations pertaining to transportation policies and procedures.

  • Assist in the implementation of Maersk Inc.'s Integrated Management System as implemented by Drayage Department.

  • Develop and lead initiatives related to driver engagement, retention, and driver communications.

  • Build positive relationships with existing owner operator fleet based on trust and confidentiality

  • Develop a confidential process to report, address and investigate driver concerns, including reporting any critical issue to key stake holders within the terminal.

  • Create and conduct active driver surveys to gather insight on any concerns affecting positive driver experience with Hudd Transportation.

  • Assist management in developing, implementing, and maintaining driver outreach programs, such as service rewards and other recognition opportunities.

  • Schedule and promote driver engagement activities that enhance the driver experience.

  • Develop strategies to promote knowledge of HUDD incentive programs. Such as sign on bonuses, referral bonuses and any other "perk".

  • Organize, maintain, and distribute driver retention metrics to department stake holders.

  • Provide recommendations and actively identify areas for improvement for the over owner operator experience.

  • Perform random audits of HOS logs to ensure compliance and productivity, audit settlement statements to ensure work and pay parity.

  • Performs other job-related duties as specified by management which may include special projects and other initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 year of experience in with FMCSA/DOT regulations

  • Positive attitude and professional demeanor

  • Must be a self-starter and possess the ability to work in both individual and team setting without supervision.

  • Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong computer and presentation skills

  • Organizational and interpersonal skills required.

  • Ability to respond as needed in support of all driver concerns and situations with or without advance notice.

  • Proficient with systems (i.e.: Microsoft products with emphasis on Excel; Trinium TMS, Tenstreet, Clearinghouse, etc)

  • Flexibility to work nights, holidays, and weekends as needed by the terminal.

Pay Range:

  • $28 - $32 an hour*

*The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for the position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.
