Job Description
Vice President, Asset Quality Review Officer
The Asset Quality Review Officer provides an independent assessment of credit risk within the Corporation by designing and leading risk-based examinations of the loan portfolio and centralized underwriting and support functions. Monitors asset quality trends, completes special reviews focused on specific asset quality or administrative concerns and works directly with the Asset Quality Review Managers and Director to recommend action plans to correct systemic deficiencies in the Corporation's credit risk management processes and amend credit policy as needed. Develops reports detailing the execution and results of these activities for the Audit Committee of the Comerica Board, senior management and the regulators.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Reviews individual loan relationships to assess credit ratings, identify strengths and weaknesses in credit underwriting and evaluate monitoring processes.
  • Plans and oversees the execution of portfolio exams as the Examiner In Charge, including coordination and completion of exam reports.
  • Trains and develops Department staff.
  • Writes examination report sections.
  • Understands and interprets Comerica credit policy and ensures that lending departments adhere to credit policy and quality standards.
  • Communicates with senior management.

Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, finance or accounting degree preferred
  • 6 years of experience in commercial lending, loan review or Bank Regulatory experience
    Completion of formal credit training program or other equivalent credit training
  • 3 years advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Skilled in proof reading and editing business reports to ensure accuracy and consistency in tone, formats and messaging
  • Ability to apply a two-dimensional commercial credit risk rating methodology to individual credits
  • Skilled in combining and relating data from multiple sources into a cohesive analysis
