Description

Chapman University invites applications for the position of a non-tenure track, Clinical Assistant Professor for the Department of Physical Therapy in Crean College of Health and Behavioral Sciences. Preference will be given to candidates who can begin immediately.

Continually accredited since 1928, the Department of Physical Therapy has a rich tradition as one of the oldest physical therapy programs in the United States and is located on the Rinker Health Science campus in Irvine, CA. This campus is designed to foster an inter-professional educational environment and to use cutting edge technology in teaching and practice. The campus features state of the art facilities, including a human cadaver anatomy laboratory, advanced learning center with innovative technology, Grand Rounds auditorium with 3D projection capabilities, multi-sized classrooms, a medical library, and collaborative work centers. The campus is home to several accredited graduate health science professional programs, including Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Master of Science Physician Assistant Studies, and Doctor of Pharmacy. Crean College includes the Institute for Interdisciplinary Brain and Behavioral Sciences (Brain Institute), offering additional outstanding facilities for neurophysiological and neuromodulation research. Responsibilities

  • Primary teaching responsibilities include teaching in the Anatomy-related content areas
  • Teach in other area(s) of expertise in the DPT curriculum
  • Assist with practice management courses
  • Participate in clinical and inter-professional education courses
  • Mentor physical therapy students
  • Participate in professional/academic service
  • Maintain clinical competency
  • Participate in research according to CAPTE requirements
Qualifications

The successful candidate will hold a DPT or terminal degree from an accredited program, clinical specialty certification or other evidence of advanced clinical expertise, and licensed or eligible for licensure in California. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated excellence in teaching Anatomy-related content areas in a DPT program, relevant clinical experience, experience in incorporating technology into teaching and professional practice. Applicants must have experience with performing human dissection and must be familiar with microanatomy/histology. Candidates also must be able to apply functional anatomy in a manner that is consistent with physical therapist education and practice. An ability to carry out scholarly activity (as defined by CAPTE criteria), perform professional/academic service, and maintain clinical competency are expected. An interest in inter-professional education is highly desirable.

Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with experience ($100,000 to $110,000 annually). This position is contingent on final budget approval. Successful completion of a background check is required for the final candidate.
