Join our Venice Family Clinic team as a Health Educator, and utilize your expertise to make a difference in the community and help improve people's lives. The Health Educator is responsible for the assessment, planning, coordination and implementation of health education program(s) that focus on underserved racial/ethnic groups who are at high risk for illness, disability and death from chronic diseases. As a Health Educator you will attend outreach events, and perform community outreach by building and enhancing a mutual and interactive relationship with residents of our service area communities, and various community-based organizations, including schools, day laborer centers, and other organizations.

UCLA Health salary range for this title code is $28.78- $59.34Hourly. Note, the center's target pay rate for this role is $28.78hourly.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Master's degree in Public Health, Nursing, Nutrition (or related field) OR a Bachelor's degree in Health (or a related field) and at two years of experience providing health education services in a public health or primary health care organization.
  • Working knowledge of health education issues and programs including nutrition, lifestyle and behavioral issues.
  • Working knowledge of chronic diseases and strategies to improve patient adherence to medical treatment plans.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish language skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of the Latino culture and diet.
  • Excellent communication and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of people of various educational and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to function efficiently and independently to meet clinic goals and objectives.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and Access.
  • Ability to travel between clinics and community organizations to conduct health education programs, presentation, services and outreach.
