PRIMARY PURPOSE/GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Executive Director of Facilities Management & Auxiliary Operations, the Director of Facilities will be responsible for planning, administering and directing activities related to facility maintenance, custodial, grounds services, and sustainability and create a safe and efficient work environment.The Director will coordinate routine maintenance requests, oversee space management, and coordinate renovation projects andwill provide active insights and input into functional design of facilities and choice of equipment to the design and construction team that are favorable for the long-term upkeep of assets. This position is scheduled to start on or after January 1, 2024.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead the facilities team and develop team members both from a professional skill and leadership perspective.
  • Lead the development of budgets for repair and maintenance with key stakeholders, executing strategies through reporting.
  • Drive continuous improvements for the College through established KPI's.
  • Assess and organize organizational workload in a logical manner to maximize efficiency and meet project deadlines.
  • Plan or schedule staff accordingly, including arranging for temporary workers when necessary.
  • Develop a schedule for coordinating routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensures that life-safety systems are in proper working order and that periodic testing and drills are scheduled, take place, and assessed as to efficacy.
  • Develop methods of communication with employees that focus on quantifying workloads and productivity.
  • Approve/disapprove department expenditures. Develop short and long-term budget projections and plans. Provide financial status reports as needed.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of college classroom, equipment and furnishing standards.
  • Determine in consultation with engineers the heating, mechanical, and electrical requirements of new and renovated buildings.
  • Maintains effective relationships
  • Establish a proactive process, including involvement in and communication with campus constituencies to determine operational maintenance and facility needs.
  • Covers responsibilities and meetings for the Executive Director of Facilities Management and Auxiliary Operations is off campus upon assignment by the Executive Director.
  • Coordinate system repairs and monitor system performance.
  • Active support for the College's Principles of Community and Principles of Diversity in the performance of job duties.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Individuals must possess knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Ability to lead and manage teams and projects
  • Attention to detail but also the ability to see the implications for the bigger picture.
  • Ability to read and understand complex electrical, mechanical and automation systems.
  • Ability to utilize basic maintenance tools and field maintenance equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including collaboration, relationship building, and ability to respond positively and flexibly when working with all College constituencies and with outside parties (i.e. vendors, etc.).
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
  • An ability to juggle multiple deadlines & projects along with a knack for solving problems and spotting inefficiencies.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree requiredor any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Education in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering a plus as well as project management.

4+ years of facilities management experience.

A working knowledge of building systems & maintenance (HVAC, fire life safety, lighting, electrical, plumbing, EV charging stations, etc.)

Familiarity with CMMS software applications required.

LICENSES / CERTIFICATES:

Must have a valid driver'slicenseand adrivingrecord acceptable to thecollege'sautomobileinsurer.

HOURS & CLASSIFICATION AND STATUS:

This is a regular status, full-time, benefits eligible, exempt position.

The regular hours of this position are Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.Hours may vary due to needs of the College or department, including special events over weekends orduring the evening. This position is not eligible for remote work.

Salary range: $110,000 to $120,000 annualized. The salary of the finalist(s)

selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to,internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Will supervise Custodial Manager, Landscape Operations Manager, Maintenance Manager, and Sustainability Coordinator.
