Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics-CHLA Keck School of Medicine Faculty Los Angeles, California

The Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) of the University of Southern California (USC) and Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) in the Department of Pediatrics at the Behavioral Health Institute in the Division of Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics, are actively seeking a full-time psychologist and faculty member for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor to join the National Center for School Crisis and Bereavement at Children's Hospital Los Angeles (NCSCB). NCSCB provides rapid response and ongoing support for crises such as natural disasters, shootings and other tragic events, as well as develops resources for educators and school staff nationwide. This psychologist/faculty will be a member of the leadership team of the NCSCB and report directly to the Director of the NCSCB. The role will include:

  • Develop and supervise a new post-doctoral-level training program in school crisis response based on content developed by the NCSCB
  • Develop and deliver training programs for other professionals at CHLA
  • Provide consultation and technical assistance provided to schools and school districts (and communities) in aftermath of major crisis event - both in-person (for incidents of national significance) and virtual
  • Respond to calls and email inquiries related to crisis events
  • Provide trainings and presentations locally and nationally (as available)
  • Prepare guidance documents, training materials, and academic publications
  • Respond to media inquiries (based on level of interest) under the direction of the Director of the NCSCB
  • Prepare funding proposals
  • Support relevant research projects

Qualifications:

* PhD or PsyD in psychology (or related discipline)

* Graduated from an APA accredited training program and completed post-doctoral training with at least 2 years post-doctoral experience

* Licensed for Clinical Psychology in State of California

* Demonstrated competencies in child / adolescent mental health, crisis interventions and grief theory / intervention

* Experience responding to crisis events and/or bereavement including systems-level consultation

* Experience working with or consulting with educators and school staff

* Experience working with a variety of mental health and healthcare disciplines

* Experience with the delivery of clinical protocols with a variety of cultures

* Experience in the development of post-doctoral training programs and in providing clinical supervision and training of psychologists (or related professionals) and interprofessional staff

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills required

* Demonstrated skill functioning as a team member

* Excellent presentation skills desired

* Experience in writing funding proposals desired but not required

The annual base salary range for this position is $147,816-$153,416.
