Job Title: Building Management System Technician (BMS) - JPL

Job Summary:

EMCOR Government Services has a need for an Building Management Systems (BMS) Technician at the JPL facility in Pasadena, CA.

EMCOR Government Services has an opening for an on-site Building Management Systems (BMS) Technician. This position is located at the JPL/NASA facility in Pasadena, CA. The project is approximately 3 million square feet of space with more than 200 buildings on campus. The BMS Technician supports and co-manages BMS programs, practices, and procedures to ensure the EMCS is operating optimally and meeting all JPL specifications / requirements. Additionally, the BMS Technician supports the maintenance and preventive maintenance of site the wide BMS, including but not limited to the system hardware, software and security problem tickets.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for monitoring, and performing diagnostic troubleshooting of program issues associated with Niagara N4, Triduim, or Siemens, Staefa EMS Systems
  • Helps / supports the EMCS Console Operator (s) with day-to-day troubleshooting of system disturbances and corrections of Building Management Systems related trouble calls and alarms.
  • Collaborates with the Maintenance Technicians and HVAC crafts to solve HVAC/Mechanical issues utilizing BMS.
  • Responsible for analyzing and uploading BMS Security patches when available and required by JPL.
  • Runs weekly BMS reports to ensure system configurations are meeting JPL contract requirements and fulfill all requirements of EGS operational plans and procedures.
  • Reviews BMS project acceptance, testing and project close out documents and provides feedback to the Manager and JPL System Administrator.
  • Performs BMS preventive maintenance on-time and in accordance to the JPL TDD contract requirements.
  • Performs BMS upgrades/repairs documented according to JPL TDD contract requirements.
  • Ensures that all console alarms are acknowledged and addressed in accordance to all JPL TDD contract requirements.
  • Supports the EMCS Manager with the weekly JPL / EGS BMS meeting.
  • Identify and report out deficiencies or anomalies noted within the BMS system.
  • Maintains effective communications with the EGS team and JPL customers.
  • On demand, runs BMS reports when requested and makes system configurations when requested.
  • Supports the closure / completion of all BMS assigned RCAs and corrective actions.
  • Works with the MRO group to specify, provide vendor quotes, and information for material, and components when requested.
  • Maintains awareness of new and emerging BMS technologies.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to meet customer critical missions.

Qualifications:

      • Associates Degree, and or Similar Technology degree such as Building / Process Automation preferred.
      • Must have demonstrated hands-on energy management and or Building Management System (BMS) controls experience which includes performing troubleshooting and repairs.
      • Minimum of 7- 10 years' experience as technician within a BMS and or EMCS
      • 5 or more years' experience with Niagara N4, Distech 6001 and 6002.
      • Certifications will be required: Niagara N4, and Distech 600.
      • Must have the ability to resolve complex BMS and or EMCS issues that require analysis, evaluation and interpretation.
      • Must have thorough understanding of electrical and mechanical systems / operations.
      • Knowledge of maintenance practices, procedures, work methods, materials, equipment, and tools to operate and maintain the systems.
      • Must have knowledge of computer office operations and work order applications, such as Maximo and Microsoft Office Suite.
      • Strong interpersonal skills and good customer service skills.
      • Must have the ability to multi-task, be organized, pay attention to detail, be dependable, and be a team player.
      • Flexibility to work alternate schedules as necessary.
      • Ability to read and write in the English Language.
      • Valid CA driver's license.
