The Public Mental Health Partnership is seeking to hire a full time Community Mental Health Trainer (CMHT) to provide training to mental health professionals working on Full Service Partnership (FSP) teams in Los Angeles County. The Trainer will utilize their mastery and thorough knowledge of the principles of Housing First, Assertive Community Treatment, and related models, as well as adult learning theory and practice to optimize the experience and knowledge acquired by trainees. The Trainer will be responsible for providing direct training, ongoing consultation, and promoting quality assurance through monitoring fidelity to evidence-based interventions; including the FSP model. In this role you will also assist in the ongoing development and production of training and web-based materials. You will be responsible for consultation to interventionists and leadership at partner organizations.
A. Training and Consultation duties:
- Provide training in evidence-based interventions, including Housing First and Assertive Community Treatment for mentalhealth providers working on FSP teams in Los Angeles County.
- Assist in the development of novel FSP training curricula and protocols, including use of best practice training techniques, evaluation, and improvement processes for new staff trainings, advanced trainings, and agency leadership.
- Provide face-to-face consultation to all FSP mental health providers across one Service Area in Los Angeles County.
- Through weekly support and consultation, assure model fidelity of those directly providing FSP services.
- Provide consultation support for contract and directly-operated Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health agencies and clinics.
- Utilize tracking mechanisms to provide regular reports to partner organizations about training attendance, utilization ofweekly consultation mechanisms, and improvements in quality of care on FSP teams.
- Utilize and implement best practice training models.
- Participate in a team developing an Internet-based training curriculum for FSP teams.
B. Intervention and Training Materials Development duties:
- Develop intervention materials including manuals and skill-building group curricula, participant handouts, etc.
- Develop training materials, including slides, manuals, protocols, and handouts.
- Assist in the adaptation of the FSP learning center for project specific needs, including development of materials such as training videos, identification of relevant peer-reviewed research articles, popular media, and other training materials.
- Develop advance special topic trainings for use on-line and in-person.
- Assist with CEU applications, tracking and reporting.
- Initiate and perform other duties as assigned.
- Advanced degree in a mental health related field (MSW, MFT, RN, NP, MA, PsyD, PhD or EdD)
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to support trainees at a distance (via web-based and telephonic consultation)
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in the field
- Willingness to spend majority of time traveling to clinic and agency sites to deliver training and support to FSP providers
- Knowledge of Housing First, Assertive Community Treatment, Critical Time Intervention, and other evidence-based interventions
- Demonstrated ability to provide training to mental health professionals
- Ability to communicate complex information to people with varying levels of education and training and different learning styles
- Ability to operate personal computers.
- Demonstrated command of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and Power Point
- Experience in providing training and other adult educational activities
- Experience in assisting with educational materials development for dissemination
- Skill in keeping accurate records with demonstrated attention to detail .
- Skill in developing rapport with individuals from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds
- Demonstrated ability to learn and follow procedures and protocols
- Skill in ethical and professional behavior
- Ability to work effectively and closely with other members of the project team
- Demonstrated ability to conduct resourceful problem solving.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Must be willing to attend meetings at multiple sites in the LA area, in the same day when required.
