ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec's culture. We operate under a sell-manage-do culture, and so we expect that you'd work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management. You may also be asked to take on project management responsibilities, along with staff management and development, and mentoring tasks.

Some of the key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Evaluate contaminated sites and develop remediation approaches, including feasibility studies, removal action work plans, remediation design plans.
  • Implement remedial pilot tests and systems, including vendor selection, logistical coordination, permitting, and supervision of field teams.
  • Build a portfolio of clients by winning new clients and obtaining repeat business from existing clients, leading proposal preparation, and executing a personal business development plan.
  • Mentor, guide, and motivate early career staff assigned in the areas of project performance, cost, schedule management, client expectations and career development; work with employees to correct deficiencies.
  • Lead the development of work plans, data evaluation, and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Write technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals; oversee and review documents prepared by project teams.
  • Foster trust-based relationships with clients, regulatory personnel, and other project stakeholders.
  • At times, this position may also include fieldwork including site visits, contractor oversight, and remediation system operations, maintenance, and construction.

Here are some other things you should know about this position:

  • Training: This position requires OSHA/MSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including technical conferences, in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Fieldwork: Up to 20%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 20%

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (civil, chemical, or environmental preferred). (required)
  • Advanced degree the same. (preferred)
  • Professional registration in California (i.e., P.E.) (required)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 8 years of environmental consulting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • At least 12 years of consulting experience in Southern California. (preferred)
  • Demonstrable track record of successful client management and business development. (required)
  • Thorough understanding of CalEPA and USEPA regulations. (required)
  • Excellent technical leadership of multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)

Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified California locations below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $114,475 / Maximum Salary: $160,265 (Long Beach)
