The Department of Otolaryngology- Head & Neck Surgery is seeking a Research Lab Technician II to join its team.
This position will be an important junior member of a research team including multiple principal investigators, various senior research associates and a mix of students/postdocs. The team is dedicated to the study of sensory hearing loss and the development of innovative methods for differential diagnosis of hearing impairment. An undergraduate degree is preferred for this position and a background in research, science, or medicine will be a plus but, is not mandatory. We are looking for a communicative person with good people skills and success in being part of a collegial, cooperative team. This individual must also appreciate and strive for precision and accuracy in their work. The employee in this position will engage in experimental data collection measuring responses from the inner ear of normal-hearing and hearing-impaired adults and older children. He or she will become proficient in using custom-designed and developed software for testing and in the accurate and careful fitting of earphones for data collection. He/she will also conduct data management and analysis under the supervision of the lead tester/audiologist on the project. The team will meet regularly to discuss data collection and review weekly results and the research technician will be a vital part of those discussions.Training will be provided for all specific research techniques and analysis methods.
The hourly rate range for this position is $23.56 - $29.48.
