The Schaeffer Center has an immediate opening for a Research Program Administrator to assist in strategic project development and dissemination of a broad research portfolio designed to identify new policies and practices that will improve healthcare quality and access.

This position will provide project oversight and research support to the Schaeffer Center Health Policy Microsimulation Unit. This position will report to the Director of Health Policy Simulation and will interface closely with the Schaeffer Center External Affairs, Finance, and Development teams.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assists a principal investigator in overseeing all phases of a large portfolio of research grants and any subcontracts. Accountable for all aspects of grant management and reporting.
  • Administers project operations and functions such as planning, design and development of project scope, analysis and reporting of study results.
  • Designs, implements, and maintains project organization and communication plans which enable the research team to effectively work together to meet project objectives.
  • Drafts technical research reports, policy briefs, and other research dissemination materials.
  • Works with the finance team to manage the Health Policy Microsimulation research budget
  • Identifies new research areas, funding source, and partners for collaboration
  • Supports the research team's fundraising efforts (e.g. grant proposal preparation, budget preparation and proposal submission).
  • Enables multi-institution collaborations, including planning research conferences and special issues of academic journals
  • Coordinates stakeholder meetings to support major research initiatives; identify action items and provide follow-up to participants as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education:

Master's Degree in Health Policy, Health Services Research, Health Economics, Public Health or related field, required.

Minimum Experience:

3 years of related professional experience (education not substitutable).

Compensation

Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Position is 100% FTE on a 2-year (renewable) fixed term.

Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

The annual base salary range for this position is $107,491 - $108,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
