Overall Purpose

The Sr. Manager, Regional Sales Development has primary management responsibility for all sales related activities of the company in a specified region or other major geographical area.

This leadership position will exercise direct supervision over the sales channel in the region and be the key link between the sales field and all customer facing divisions of the company.

At the direction of the Regional Sales Leader, this position will be responsible for developing strong, long term and strategic customer relationships, as well as distributor/sales representative relationships across the region. He/She will be primarily focused on managing the sales channel for the region, including;

  • Developing and executing key customer plans to drive targets through the sales channel;
  • Work with the Contracting Team to develop and implement critical sales channel plans for national accounts, key customers, new customers, including key strategic/corporate partnerships and initiatives;
  • Work with all medical education, marketing and field marketing personnel to assist in the development and execution of all key corporate strategies, including new product launches, all training initiatives / events, as well as all other important customer plans as identified on the sales channel, etc.;

In addition to driving our sales process and sales channel, this position will monitor and control all daily sales management objectives and will be the direct point of contact for the appointed sales representatives in the region.  The Sr. Manager, Regional Sales Development will work closely with the sales leadership team to ensure maximization of growth opportunities.  This must be done while maintaining strict adherence to corporate compliance policies and procedures. 

Finally, this position may be called upon to help set quarterly and annual sales goals, ensure that they are met, and tracked.  As a leader in the field, he/she will use best business practices at all times to ensure the highest quality work, ethical standards and judgement in the planning, organization and execution of all activities on behalf of the company.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Developing and executing key customer plans to drive targets through the sales channel;
  • Work with the Contracting Team to develop and implement critical sales channel plans for national accounts, key customers, new customers, including key strategic/corporate partnerships and initiatives;
  • Work with all medical education, marketing and field marketing personnel to assist in the development and execution of all key corporate strategies, including new product launches, key training initiatives or events, important customer plans as identified on the sales channel, etc.

2.    Assisting the Regional Sales Leader in managing the Sales Channel in the Region, including;

  • Coaching all sales personnel on the sales process and all aspects of selling;
  • Setting expectations and holding all team members accountable to those expectations
  • Territory Planning and Analysis;

3. Managing all key customer relationships in the region, including;

  • Assisting with any all pricing, contracting or RFP initiatives in the region;
  • Surgery Attendance where needed and to ensure the highest of standards in the field at all times;
  • Building key relationships with top customers including the sales channel, health care practitioners, hospital purchasing or C Suite staff, etc.;
  • Answering Technical Questions from sales representatives and key customers in the region;
  • Managing any and all sales channel disruption in a manner to ensure key customer retention.

4. Sales Administrative Duties

  • Reviewing sales data to identify opportunities & obstacles;
  • Reviewing data and sales reports with all sales representatives;
  • Performance Reviews (if applicable), territory plans / sales channel plans;
  • Budget & Expense management;
  • Assisting in the development and execution of all key inventory management initiatives;
  • MedEd effectiveness execution and tracking;

5. Other motivational and sales leadership responsibilities, such as:

  • Elevating others performance through motivation;
  • Area sales contests or other competitive activities;
  • Creating a team environment where individuals want to work

6. This position may also be called upon to assist with monthly, quarterly and annual sales forecasts for the region, including;

  • Tracking of sales objectives monthly;
  • Assessing monthly sales forecasts for accuracy;
  • Assisting with the development of annual sales quotas for regions and territories;
  • Projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products;
  • Monitoring performance and reporting status on a monthly basis;
  • Any other sales analytics as required.

Accountability

Levels of responsibility and decision making will be determined by their Sales Leader.

Experience Requirements 

  1. Minimum 3-5 years of successful medical device sales experience in Orthopedics required, with at least 2 years of sales management experience preferably in an operating room setting with demonstrated progressive levels of accomplishment. 
  2. Demonstrated track record of success and goal-attainment. Highly motivated, driven to succeed, strong organizational and time management skills, high degree of accountability.
  3. Must be willing and able to retain technical product knowledge in order to ensure the safe and effective use of all product areas within the sales organization.
  4. Must have intimate knowledge of the sales cycle and an ability to articulate and apply to all product areas
  5. Must be comfortable, willing and capable to initiate and maintain key surgeon relationships
  6. Must have appropriate interpersonal skills to achieve a team environment and exert influence without alienating others
  7. Must be able to grasp complex organizational issues and logically develop recommendations, recognizing that there may not be one right answer to the situation
  8. Must possess a proactive, “can do” attitude

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Sales, Business or a related discipline; Master's preferred

This person can reside anywhere in the western part of the US as long as you are close to a major airport and can commute easily within the western region.
